The
House Workbook: (Available soon)
This workbook supplements the materials available on the CD and on
the web.
The House Teacher's Guide: (Available soon)
This comprehensive manual provides advice on how to get the most out
of the web, CD and workbook materials.
The TAFE VC Student Starter Kit:
The TAFE VC Student Starter Kit is an introduction to an online
course delivered via the TAFE Virtual Campus and is aimed at:
- learners
who are experiencing the TAFE VC for the first time
- higher
literacy students who can work through an online course with
minimal or no teacher support
- low-level
literacy learners who can work through an online course in
a computer lab with teacher assistance.
|
|
The
TAFE VC Student Starter Kit takes learners through the TAFEVC functions
step by step while engaging them in various interactive activities
to help improve their internet skills. In the course learners meet
Max who has just completed a module online. Max asks himself a series
of questions about online learning and these questions are answered
for the learners as they work through the course - so infact, Max
acts as the participants' online facilitator!

The House CD:
The House consists of a series of rooms. Within each room, there
are learning activities based around themes. Themes are based
around everyday activities. These include: travel, shopping,
job seeking, managing money and budgets etc. Students can access
these learning activities (which are graphic and sound based)
by simply clicking on any moving (animated) object on the screen.
We have been careful to build computer skills in conjunction
with language and literacy skills. Each theme is developed for
four levels, from basic (Levels 1 and 2), to more advanced language
and literacy skills (Levels 3 and 4, which are equivalent to
the final two years of secondary education - Victorian Certificate
of Education).
While students at Level 1 only have to point and click, students
at Level 4 are carrying out full research activities using the
Internet. The CD can be loaded onto an internal network (intranet)
and used to enhance face to face teaching especially for Level
1 and 2 students. It can also be used by Level 3 and 4 students
as self-paced learning material. |
